Violet - Success Story
Violet's Story

Violet's story is one of unimaginable neglect and unstoppable strength.

When Violet first arrived at the emergency hospital, no one was sure if she was even alive. At just 12 pounds, this nearly two-year-old Doodle was so severely neglected—matted, skeletal, and emaciated—that the hospital team nearly started CPR, her pulses were so weak.

A Battle to Survive
We were by her side within minutes, determined to give her every possible chance. It was one of the most extreme cases of neglect we had ever seen. Her entire body was trapped beneath a suffocating shell of matted fur, a prison she had likely carried her entire life.

It wasn’t until she was shaved down that we fully realized the extent of her condition. Beneath all that fur, Violet was depleted, fragile, and barely holding on.

She was immediately given a life-saving blood transfusion, but even then, her prognosis was guarded. No one knew if she would make it through the night.

One Gentle Soul, Fighting Back
Caring for a dog this fragile was a rollercoaster. Every small symptom, every test result, every heartbeat mattered. We battled waves of concern—from heart murmurs to lung changes, from digestive complications to the terrifying possibility of refeeding syndrome. Each moment with Violet was precious and uncertain. And yet, through it all, Violet fought.

Day by day, she got stronger. She began inhaling her meals (carefully broken into 20 tiny feedings a day), wagging her tail when we spoke to her, and even standing with our help. Her soulful eyes brightened, and her gentle, loving spirit slowly began to emerge.

Despite all she had endured, Violet showed nothing but trust, patience, and kindness. She was, and always will be, an angel on earth. We celebrated each milestone, never taking a single one for granted, just hoping that one day she would be strong enough to leave the hospital. And finally, that day came.

But Violet’s story didn’t stop there—it kept unfolding in ways that felt beautifully meant to be.

A Meant-to-Be Moment

At a Yoga in the Park fundraiser led by Taylor, one of our longtime supporters, Taylor chose to support Sky Sanctuary.

We brought Violet along that day, and from the moment they met, an instant and undeniable bond formed. It felt like everything had led us to this: a compassionate soul, a broken but resilient dog, and a path that kept circling back to yoga, to community, and to love.

A Story of Resilience & Connection

Today, we are overjoyed to share that Violet has officially gone home with Taylor. The same calm, nurturing energy Taylor brings to every yoga class is now part of Violet’s everyday life. And we know, without question, that she’s going to thrive. Violet’s story is a testament to resilience, to second chances, and to the beautiful way the right hearts always find each other, no matter how broken they begin.

Violet's Wish

Watching Violet recover and reach milestone after milestone has felt like witnessing a series of small miracles—each one made possible by the love and support of this incredible community. If Violet could “pay it forward,” we know she would. And now, with your help, we’re hoping to make that dream a reality.

We’re proud to have launched “Violet’s Wish”, a program created to honor Violet’s legacy by supporting animals and community members who find themselves in their darkest hour, just as Violet once did.
