Mystic's Story

Saving some dogs is a choice—saving Mystic was a commitment.  When we first learned about Mystic, he had been wandering the desert and nearby neighborhoods for weeks—a terrified pup surviving alone in a dangerous wash, surrounded by the constant threat of coyotes.

When Patience Meets Purpose

Every time we tried to get close, he would bolt. He was in pure survival mode, too afraid to realize we were there to save him. But we couldn’t give up on him. All day we tracked his movements, studied his patterns, and worked tirelessly to earn even a shred of his trust. But Mystic always remained just out of reach. So we changed our approach. As he took a moment to rest, we carefully set a humane trap, baited with chicken, in hopes the smell would lure him in.

A Full Moon & a Second Chance

For hours, we waited, hoping he’d find his way to safety. And then, under the light of a full moon, Mystic finally walked into the trap. After weeks of running, dodging, and surviving against impossible odds, he was safe. But the rescue was only the beginning.

Healing Beyond the Physical

At the sanctuary, Mystic needed time. He was exhausted, both physically and emotionally. Slowly, as his wounds healed and the walls around his heart softened, we began to see the dog he was always meant to be—a playful, joyful spirit who had simply never been given the chance to trust.

His journey wasn’t quick or easy. It took months of patience, professional training, and deep compassion to help Mystic finally shed the weight of his fear.

Home, At Last

Today, he’s living the life he always deserved—with a family who loves him fiercely and is forever committed to keeping him safe.

Mystic’s story is a powerful reminder: some souls don’t run because they don’t want love—they run because they’ve never known it. And we will always keep chasing them.
