Georgia's Story
Some animals leave paw prints on your soul—Georgia left a roadmap.
She was the very first critically medical dog we ever pulled from the shelter. The one who made us brave. The one who redefined what rescue meant to us. Georgia changed everything.
Fighting for Her Life
When she was found clinging to life in a ditch in Waddell, Arizona, no one knew if she would make it. She weighed just 22 pounds. Her body was shutting down, covered in bite wounds, her eye punctured and rotting, her lip torn open, her mouth full of painful abscesses.
She couldn’t stand. She could barely lift her head. But she wagged her tail. That moment broke something open in us. Even in unbearable pain, Georgia had hope.
A Symbol of Survival
We later learned that the worker who found her fed her his lunch—canned ravioli. It’s a detail we’ve never forgotten, and it became a symbol of the beginning of her fight back to life.
Watching Georgia recover was like witnessing a miracle in slow motion. Every tiny milestone felt monumental. The first time she stood. The first time she played. The first sparkle in her eye. Pound by pound, joy returned to her body. Piece by piece, Georgia came back.

Georgia’s Journey Home
Three years ago, we packed up the car and began Georgia’s Journey—driving her to her forever home in the mountains of Washington. There, she found the perfect family: people who not only understood her breed and her trauma but were wholly committed to helping her thrive. And thrive she has.
Today, Georgia lives a life of adventure and freedom. She hikes, camps, mountain bikes, and soaks up the love of a family who absolutely adores her.
Her incredible adopters even asked their wedding guests to support Sky Sanctuary in lieu of gifts—a gesture that moved us to tears.
The Beginning of Something Beautiful
Georgia will always be part of us. She may not live at the sanctuary, but she lives in our story, in our hearts, and in the foundation of who we are.
Miss Georgia, you were the beginning of something beautiful.
