Meet Sage
Sweet, strong, and full of quiet joy.
Sage was found abandoned on the side of the road and brought to a rural shelter, where it quickly became clear something was wrong. Her tiny abdomen was filling with fluid, revealing a rare and serious congenital heart defect.
A Heart That Wouldn’t Give Up
Sage underwent two unsuccessful balloon dilation procedures, followed by a third, more complex heart surgery to place a shunt.
That final procedure gave her something she’d never had before: freedom from daily medication—and the chance to be a dog.
A Life Worth Fighting For
Today, Sage lives in a loving sanctuary foster home, where she enjoys romping with her canine siblings, soaking up affection, and exploring new adventures.
We’ve made her a promise: lifelong care, unconditional love, and a future filled with hope. She may be a sanctuary animal, but above all else, Sage is family.
