Meet Kendra
A Bond That Sparked a Calling
Kendra has always loved animals, but it was her first dog, Roxy—a sweet soul she welcomed into her life at just 16—who truly ignited her lifelong passion for dogs and their wellbeing.
Roxy wasn’t just a companion; she was a teacher. Together, they navigated life’s challenges, including some of Roxy’s own, which deepened their bond and taught Kendra powerful lessons in patience, resilience, and unconditional love.
Finding Purpose in Rescue
While in college, Kendra began volunteering at a local shelter. It was there she got her first real glimpse into the world of animal rescue—the joy, heartbreak, and hope that come with it.
Though she pursued a career in marketing outside the animal world, her heart never drifted far. She continued volunteering with local rescues, eager to learn and do more for animals in need.
From Corporate to Compassion
Eventually, Kendra took a marketing role at a company that specialized in animal care. Through that position, she began working with local rescues and helped launch a foster program.
It was during this time that she discovered Sky Sanctuary Rescue. Moved by the dedication and life-saving work she witnessed, Kendra joined the Sky Sanctuary team full-time in April 2023, leaving behind the corporate world to fully commit to advocating for street dogs and being a voice for the voiceless.
Life with the Ones Who Stayed
Today, Kendra shares her life with five beloved dogs, including two Sky Sanctuary foster fails:

Clark, a tiny Chihuahua mix who quickly claimed a permanent place in her heart

Sage, a sweet sanctuary dog with complex medical needs who will remain under Sky Sanctuary’s care while living safely and lovingly in Kendra’s home
