Meet Aurora
From a Low Point to a New Beginning
Back in 2019, I decided to welcome home a beautiful fur baby named Rio. I was at one of the lowest points in my life and wanted a dog that would keep me active and motivated—so I chose an Australian Shepherd.
Watching Rio grow and going through our ups and downs together opened my eyes to just how much I wanted to learn about animals.
Taking the Leap
I left the corporate world and took a leap of faith—starting at a doggy daycare and eventually working my way up to a role in marketing.
Along the way, I learned so much about dog behavior and health—how to recognize when something wasn’t right, how to care for them, how to create strategies and think quickly when challenges came up.
Finding Purpose with Sky Sanctuary
While working at the daycare, I had the opportunity to work closely with Sky Sanctuary Rescue, and that connection ignited a deeper passion in me.
I realized I wanted to grow even more and truly understand animal behavior on a deeper level.

A Voice for the Vulnerable
Now, as I continue my journey with Sky Sanctuary, I’m dedicated to learning everything I can. My goal is to be a voice for the animals the moment they walk through our doors—whether it’s their behavior, health, or any need they may have.
This isn’t just a job—it’s my purpose.

What’s a totally normal day here... and what’s a “Sky Sanctuary-level” chaos day?
A typical day at the sanctuary is filled with love—caring for the animals, feeding them, administering medications, playing, and constantly reminding them just how special they are.
But a "Sky Sanctuary-level" day? That’s when the routine takes a sharp turn. It might mean an animal’s medical needs suddenly escalate and we’re rushing to the ER, or a new intake arrives and we need to quickly craft a care plan that balances their needs with those of our current residents.
It’s a whirlwind of compassion, adaptability, and quick thinking—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

I could share one message with the world about rescue dogs, it would be this:
Never underestimate them.
Don’t let society’s misconceptions fool you. Rescue dogs are some of the most loving, loyal, and capable animals out there.
They have the ability to learn, grow, and offer an unwavering bond that’s truly unmatched.
They’re not just great dogs—they’re the best.
